1968 Allied Greenwich 24 - Hull #41

Are you ready to sail the prettiest small boat in the harbor? The Greenwich 24 was designed by George Stadel in 1967 and built by the Allied Boat Company. In 1973 the molds were sold to Cape Dory and became the iconic Cape Dory 25. With her long overhangs and gently curving sheer she turns heads wherever you sail her. The full keel and 1500 lb ballast gives her the feel of a much larger boat with a good turn of speed and gentle motion; she is a joy to sail.

This boat was donated to the Lake Winnipesaukee Sailing Association, a nonprofit sailing school, who is selling it for the benefit of their youth sailing program.

The donors of this boat bought her a few years ago as a “project boat.”  A fastidious couple, they invested hundreds of hours of hard work and refinished the entire boat inside and out.  Unfortunately their circumstances changed, and they donated the boat to our organization.

Born again! The hull sports a brand-new Claret Red AwlGrip finish – a $6,000 value.  The cockpit, cabin top and deck have been resurfaced, and the bottom has a fresh coat of anti-fouling paint.  All of the original interior and exterior teak has been refinished.  The interior cushions have all been re-covered. (The forward cushions are shown in the photographs; the main cabin cushions are similar and are in storage off the boat.)

Features

  • Self-tailing winches

  • Roller-furling Genoa

  • Bulkhead mounted compass

  • Cockpit cushions

  • Roomy cockpit storage compartments

  • Enclosed motor well

  • Teak Cockpit sole

  • Ample storage below

  • Gimbled brass oil lamp

  • New upholstery on interior cushions

  • Sleeps 4 – Two in forward cabin, two in main cabin

  • Porta Pottie

  • Boom cover

  • Custom tandem Trailer

The restoration of this boat is almost complete.  It represents a tremendous opportunity for a buyer who is willing to invest a little time, energy, and a few dollars to finish the job.   The result will be a pristine classic yacht whose value will far exceed the investment.

Here is a summary of what is still needed:

  • Main traveler needs to be reinstalled.(Traveler and hardware are with boat)

  • Anchor cleat on bow

  • Port and starboard cleats at stern

  • Hinges & latches on forward and aft hatch covers

  • Bilge pump

  • Battery

  • Wiring for running lights and interior.

  • Sink fittings and freshwater tank if wanted

  • Anchor and rode

  • Dock lines and fenders

  • The above covers the major stuff we can see. It is possible you will need some lines and small fittings.
